Interior Wood Staining at Keewatin School

An RBC Painting & Decorating Case Study

Property Snapshot

The Challenge

The school facility had not been painted in 30 to 40 years, and a previous contractor had stalled the renovation for three years, leaving the project in limbo. Because the school was active, we had to coordinate work around students who would often scratch fresh paint on the railings with their parka zippers or leave handprints before the product had fully cured.

Our Solution

To minimize disruption, we performed the heavy production during school breaks and worked evenings and weekends when the building was empty. We applied a durable black finish to the metal railings and used a symbolic color palette for the stairwells to honor the school’s commitment to Indigenous Reconciliation.

The Transformation

We replaced the dated, 40-year-old aesthetic with a bright, modern finish. The dark hallways and factory-primed grey doors were transformed into vibrant learning spaces. (Images: Before/After in GDrive)

Results

The project successfully revitalized a long-neglected building. School staff, janitors, and teachers reported high levels of satisfaction, noting that the visible progress significantly improved the school’s atmosphere after years of stagnation.
